Suresh and Gang save the best for last

Suresh and his buddies, all from Chennai – off the east coast of India – had many hours fishing from dinghies, perfecting their skills to the tune of catching small monsters from the murky waters off the coast of Chennai. They wanted to put it to the test in the Andamans catching GT’s. They had put together an action plan of sorts to catch that one fish they had heard a lot of – the GT. But alas, the weather had a different plan for them. Windy conditions and choppy seas did not help the best tackle gear they had brought, as they had come in the aftermath of a storm and the waters were still green. It was tough getting the fish to bite as they tend to be less active in these conditions and less inclined to take surface lure. We on our part tried multiple fishing spots and techniques while keeping them motivated, but it was hard going the first few days. When the weather gods finally did smile we pushed farther and Suresh hooked into his very first Marlin – estimated at about 150-200 kilo – that too on the jig. The crew were eager to call the fish landed but on light gear it was a most difficult ask. So it was not a surprise when the line bust, much to the dismay of Suresh, and he lost a chance to nail his first Marlin and strike one off his bucket list. On the last day we fished a fabled fishing spot as a last chance to nail what they had come looking for...
